“legalism” ? Not a religion I’ve run across before. Are you sure that’s right?

The other 2 are not religions that focus on an afterlife because they don’t see the world the same way that Christians, Jews and Muslims.

In the Confucian system, a divine being does not have a significant role; his philosophy is human-centered and relies on self-effort. Humans strive to attain the ideal character through education, self-effort, and self-reflection. The goal of life was to live a good moral life.
Taoism also sees the goal of life as achievementof harmony, not an afterlife . Humans are just another part of nature for Taoism.

Introduction? Redemption! What does Confucianism, Taoism, and Legalism say about redemption and the afterlife?

Confucianism’s focus is primarily on secular ethics and morality. As such, it is tied up with moral, social, political, philosophical, and religious thought.
While Taoism has never been a unified religion, its different sects have many varied beliefs that can contradict each other. Still, all Taoist thought focuses on wu wei (” action that does not involve struggle or excessive effort” ) spontaneity, humanism, relativism, and emptiness. So Taoist’s believe in peace and detachment as the way to redemption.
Legalists allege against any view that law, not faith in God’s grace, is the pre-eminent principle of redemption.

So in conclusion, we see that redemption isn’t the main focus of these three religions. They each have their own precepts on what it deems important towards society and spiritual growth as a person (ethics and morality for Confucianists, peace and detachment for Taoists, and following the letter of the law for Legalists). Redemption follows when their members follow their precepts.
